Living in Newburyport I always think of Yankee Homecoming as a celebration of summer! The food, events, music, parade & fireworks are what Summer is all about in New England
My personal favorite is the Waterfront Outdoor Concerts, it brings me back to early childhood memories spending the long vacations in Cape Cod, packing Picnic Baskets & blankets to attend the “Concerts on the Green”. I remember clearly the patchwork of bright blankets against the green grass, dancing with my sisters and my grandparents tapping thier feet and singing along to the music.
RE/MAX has always supported Yankee Homecoming and is proud to be sponsoring 2 of the Waterfront Park concerts this year. The Cronin Team at RE/MAX was lucky to have won the deck at The Firehouse overlooking the concert at a community charitable auction. We knew right away we would share this venue with our past clients in appreciation of trusting us with their home purchase or sale. Our Evites are coming to your inbox and we look forward to seeing you!
A bit of history,
Newburyport’s first Yankee Homecoming celebration was held in 1958 as a way to reinvigorate community pride and interest in the downtown. Over 50 years later, this annual celebration is the second oldest remaining festival in the country. Yankee Homecoming always begins on the last Sunday of July and runs for 8 days.
You will find endless activities to take part in all around the downtown. Free Waterfront Concerts take place every evening in Waterfront Park behind the Firehouse Center for the Arts. Shop around town on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the highly anticipated Sidewalk Sale days where you can get lots of great bargains from our many unique shops! Participate in the road race, bed race, Art on Bartlett Mall, Family Day at Maudslay State Park, Kid’s Talent Show, Greek Food Festival, Craft Fair and more! Every day you will find free music in Market Square and the delicious smell of food from outdoor vendors.
